getaDate and the silence after shipping

January. Three, maybe four late nights. getaDate — an AI dating assistant — went from idea to live.

Was nervous about releasing it. Did it anyway. That part felt real.

Then nothing. Not a dramatic abandonment. Just quiet. Other work filled in. The repo sat there, last commit timestamped like a photograph.

The building was all nerve and momentum. Sustaining is slower, less legible — no finish line, no release day, no moment where something tips from not-existing to existing.

Shipping proves you can start and finish. Maintaining proves something else entirely. Most solo builds find out they're only good at one of those.

I'm still figuring out which kind of work I'm actually building for.
